Harris v Craig

In this remarkably poignant monologue by Sam Harris, we are presented with the truly grotesque version of morality being put forward by Christianity, in direct contrast to the rational morality offered by secular society.

I Only Murder at the Weekend

When it comes to factory farms (where ~95% of our meat, dairy and eggs originate) and animal abuse it is clear that society really doesn’t take the severity of the situation seriously. In no other injustice do we take the position of contributing to the problem in moderation or, said another way, reducing our contribution to the problem. No, we just stop with the slavery, rape, torture, murder, racism, sexism, homophobia or any other immoral behaviour in which we’ve been engaging. It’s really that simple!

Cognitive Dissonance

In this (relatively) short video, Alex O’Connor of CosmicSkeptic issues a much-needed diatribe against all those people suffering from the worst of cognitive dissonance – acting out of alignment with what they believe in such an overtly obvious way that, if it wasn’t so pathetically sad, it would be absolutely fucking hilarious!

The Problem with Religion

The hypocrisy of religious morality is the fact that it establishes immoral criteria by which to live, and then creates a loophole so we don’t have to take responsibility for whatever actions have been deemed immoral. Religion is not a moral system; it is the epitome of immorality – because it states that there aren’t necessarily consequences that we’re going to have to face… because of a loophole that has nothing to do with how good we are, or how morally we act, but rather whether we are willing to bend the knee to a fiction, an idea and a con.

I'm Your Host, Bradley Dorfan

I’d love for you to get to know me, and for me to get to know you…

which is why I created a mailing list dedicated to challenging the status quoasking difficult questionsdiscovering the facts, rejecting nonsenserefusing to tolerate the unreasonable demands of a loud & deluded majority, and reclaiming our sanity amidst the chaos of a dysfunctional world.

Don't Ignore Hinduism

Interesting comment on one of my Quora posts re: the harm of Hinduism – a religion which atheists tend to overlook or fail to criticise. The person commenting is Indian, so they have more authority on this subject than I. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to see the comment unless you have a Quora account and are signed in.

Are you interested in discovering your personality type?

If you are, I highly recommend using the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator. I took the test on 16-Personalities and was honestly surprised by how accurate it was. For those interested, I’m a ‘Turbulent Mediator (INFP-T)’. Obviously, MBTI isn’t the only personality test, and I’ll be sure to link to others from time to time.

Conspiracist Thinking

The reason there’s insufficient evidence for my claims is that the villains in my story are so well organised and powerful they can easily prevent the facts from getting out. The disparate chunks of data I’ve provided make a compelling case for the theories I’ve convinced myself to be true, despite the lack of sufficient evidence in this regard.”

BRADLEY DORFAN

Founder of The Public Server

I am an attorney by formal training, but my passion for helping people who battle with issues similar to my own (such as people-pleasing, low self-esteem and social anxiety, amongst others) motivated me to pivot into the personal development sphere. Thus, The Public Server was born! In building this brand, I have discovered an abundance of tools, techniques and resources designed to unleash one’s ideal future self and help them live life without the unnecessary constraints they’ve allowed to dictate what they say and do. Through my personal journey, I am confident you will be able to find success, joy, and peace as you make your way through life. It is never too late to evolve into the person you always envisioned you would be. Just get started.

HALL OF FAME

Sometimes I will publish or find something online / on social media of which I am particularly proud or by which I am especially moved. The best of the best will make its way here (curated & repurposed for your enjoyment) and I will be sure to link to the original post or article as well, which you’ll be able to access by clicking on one of the expanded text blocks between the images. This is essentially a smorgasbord of content I enjoyed enough for it to make its way here.

You've Invented a Fiction

You’ve invented a fiction, given it extraordinary abilities, then made excuses for its incompetence, & blamed imperfect beings for the atrocities they experience. Your god doesn’t provide an explanation for ANYTHING in this world. It just creates more questions that need to be answered & more problems that need to be solved. If the desperate prayers of innocent people cannot stop them from being abused, raped, tortured or killed, then what does that say about the fictional character you worship?

We Need to Talk

Dear friends and family, please be advised that I will no longer be bending to the whims, wishes and whines of those around me. I understand that, in the past, I have taken certain things personally, resulting in my trying to please everyone around me, lest they take something I did personally. But I now realise that we are each only responsible for our own actions and reactions. I will no longer be tiptoeing around the eggshells of my own making. I’m going to live my life; and, if that upsets people or I lose friends in the process, well then that’s just a risk I’m gonna have to take!

Hidden in Plain Sight

How much more could we become if we didn’t constantly evaluate our existence, who we are and what we do against the potential reactions of those around us? If we didn’t stop at every turn to consider whom we might inconvenience, offend, upset or hurt? If we didn’t conclude that we’ll likely disturb, offend, upset or hurt somebody merely through being our authentic selves? If we didn’t remain silent in times we should’ve spoken up? How much more could we become?

You Heard Me!

Religion has had a foothold over society for far too long. Theism isn’t the arbiter of morality – it has nothing to do with morality – it’s about control, and has been used to justify patently immoral acts committed in its name. As Hitchens says, ‘religion poisons everything‘ and that statement is all too true. Faith is not truth, but the explanation given to events/things unknown in the absence of evidence. Do not preach at me about shit that has no basis in reality! Believe in my invisible unicorn, and I’ll believe in your god 🖕

A (Moral) Philosophy to End Them All

A (Moral) Philosophy to End Them All

What IS morality if not FOR those who can suffer and flourish? The entire concept of ‘what is right and what is wrong’, then, requires a consideration of ‘who’ might or will be affected by another’s actions. As such, this article will argue in favour of a secular, naturalistic ethical philosophy that positions sentience at the centre of our moral concern.

To Whom it May Concern

To Whom it May Concern

This post serves as an open-letter to my friends, family and peers regarding aspects of myself that I have neglected and let succumb to the dictates & whims of those around me for far too long. This is me putting all my cards on the table…
